Background

Our Firm

Timpson Garcia, LLP, CPAs and Consultants assist our clients in achieving their goals by providing prompt and comprehensive accounting and consulting services integrating the needs of our clients with the talents of our people.

We recognize that our most important product is prompt and effective service of the highest quality. All our efforts are directed toward achieving that goal and to maintaining a long-term relationship with our clients.

Personalized service to our clients is under the general supervision of a partner. The engagement partner oversees all of the various services performed for an organization. In addition to the general supervision of the partner responsible, services for the organization may be under the direct supervision of a manager or senior accountant.

In addition to the engagement team, the organization will have the knowledge and experience of the other partners of Timpson Garcia, LLP for consultation should problems arise or special services be needed. Other members of our professional staff would be assigned to the organization as required.

Timpson Garcia, LLP has gone through name changes since the start of our business in 1924 but has never wavered from our Commitment To Professional Excellence.

Timpson Garcia, LLP is an equal opportunity employer, and has men and women from a variety of racial and ethnic backgrounds, thus offering a bilingual speaking staff of Cantonese and Spanish.

Background

In 1924, Lawrence S. Timpson founded one of Oakland’s oldest CPA firms. Meanwhile, in 1956 LeVerne W. Garcia established his Oakland CPA firm bearing his name.

The Lawrence S. Timpson firm maintained the use of his name until 1969 when the firm became known as Boyle, Cowan & Co.(BC). As had all the partners in the past, Messrs. Boyle and Cowan had started with the firm as entry-level accountants: William J. Boyle in 1952 and Reed Cowan in 1958.

The LeVerne W. Garcia firm, having gone through several name changes became known as Garcia, Erwin, Nishi and Kawasaki (GENK) in 1986. GENK’s partners rose through the ranks: Hugh Erwin joining the firm in 1956, James G. Nishi in 1959, and Elaine Lee Kawasaki in 1978.

These two Oakland founded CPA firms decided to join forces in January 1992 and in honor of the pioneer founders, became known as Timpson Garcia, LLP. The current partners are Dennis S. Kaneshiro, who joined BC in 1970, William E. Moy, who joined BC in 1976, and Elaine Lee Kawasaki, who joined GENK in 1978.
